Preaching the Word of God is a priority here at Rising Church. Pastor Jason typically prefers expository preaching, leading us through a book of the Bible or an extended passage of Scripture over several chapters of a book. Occasionally he will change things up and take a few weeks to preach on a particular topic. Even when addressing a specific topic we are most likely going to look at that issue through a passage of Scripture to give us biblical context.
While our worship service is what most people would refer to as contemporary we hope that our heart for Jesus is what really comes through. Our highest priority when we gather for worship is to glorify God through our praises and to make much of Jesus. Our worship leader, Neva, is incredibly intentional at putting worship orders together that focus our hearts and minds on Jesus and tie in thematically with our sermons. The entire Worship Arts Team does a great job working together to create an atmosphere in which we are free to worship.
Our Kids Ministry Team does a great job loving on and ministering to children every Sunday. Our infants and toddlers are cared for through the entire worship service. These precious little ones can be dropped off 10 minutes prior to our worship service beginning. Our elementary-school-aged children join us for our opening worship set so they can spend a few moments worshiping with their families. They head off to our Kids Ministry following our opening time of worship.
Following our worship gatherings we spend time connecting with each other over light refreshments including donuts and coffee, tea & cocoa provided by our Hospitality Team. It’s a great time of connecting with one another, praying for each other, and doing life together.
Observing the elements that represent Christ’s broken body and His shed blood for us is a powerful and humbling act of worship. Scripture describes that this was something the earliest believers did every time they gathered together for worship (Acts 2:42, Acts 20:7). This is why we make the elements of the Lord’s Supper available every week at our communion station. We want every believer in Jesus Christ to have the freedom to observe these elements every time we gather for corporate worship.
In addition to making the elements available every week, we also observe communion corporately on the first Sunday of the month. Typically following the sermon Pastor Jason will share thoughts that focus our hearts and minds on the cross of Christ and His sacrifice for us. We pass the elements and share in them together as a corporate worship experience.
Family Worship Services
The 4th & 5th Sundays of every month we come together – every generation – for our Family Worship Service. Our elementary-school-aged children stay with us for the entire worship service on these Sundays as opposed to being dismissed to Kids Ministry as they normally would on the other Sundays of the month. You might notice a little bit of a different rhythm on these Sundays as we may incorporate different elements of worship to help our younger children engage with us in worship. We still provide nursery care for infants and toddlers if families would like to take advantage of that.
